Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the D2X Macro Calculator & Meal Planner mobile app for iOS and Android.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Macro Calculator app (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information. We have tried to write it in plain language.
IN SHORT: the App has no account and no sign-in. Your profile (sex, age, activity level, the daily calorie target you set yourself and the macro percentages you enter), your food log — both the days you have lived and the days you have planned — and any foods you create are stored ONLY on your device. The App does not ask for your height or your weight, and has no field for either. It has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind, and the food data it searches is built into the App rather than fetched from a server. Your content never leaves your device. The App’s only outbound connection is to our purchase provider, RevenueCat, which the App asks at launch whether the Pro unlock is owned and what it costs; that check carries no content of yours. The only other way information leaves your device is one you start yourself: exporting your log to a file and choosing where to send it.
Your device’s own backup is separate from the App and is not something we operate. If iCloud Backup (on iOS) or Google’s backup for Android is turned on, your operating system may include the App’s stored data in that backup and restore it if you reinstall, under Apple’s or Google’s terms. We never receive or have access to those backups. You can turn device backup off in your device’s settings.
1. What Stays On Your Device
Everything you enter lives in your device’s local storage and nowhere else:
- Your profile: sex, age, activity level, the daily calorie target you set for yourself, and the macro percentages you enter. NO BODY MEASUREMENT IS COLLECTED — the App does not ask for your height or your weight and has no field for either.
- The macronutrient gram amounts produced by applying your percentages to your target.
- Your food log, organised by date: days that have already happened, and meals you have put on future dates.
- Any custom foods you create, including the names you type.
- Your app preferences: language and theme.
- Your reminder settings: whether each of the two daily reminders is on, and the time of day you chose for it.
- The record that you accepted these documents, and the version and time of that acceptance, and — if you enter macro percentages outside the published federal ranges — the record that you acknowledged the notice about them.
- Whether the Pro unlock is active on this device.
We do not receive, see, or store any of it. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise or approximate location, health records, or an advertising identifier. The App requests no device permission except notifications, and only at the moment you switch a reminder on (Section 5).
2. No Accounts, No Analytics, No Ads
This version of the App has no user account, no sign-in and no cloud sync. It does not send your profile, targets, food log or custom foods anywhere. We operate no server of our own for this App, and there is nothing for you to log in to.
It contains no advertising and no advertising SDK, no third-party analytics or product-measurement SDK, and no crash-reporting service. Nothing about how you use the App is transmitted to us or to anyone else.
The App makes exactly one kind of network connection of its own: the purchase check described in Section 4, made to RevenueCat when the App starts and when you tap to buy or restore. Everything else in the App works with no connection at all.
The nutrition database is compiled into the App itself, so searching for a food makes no network request and works with the device offline or in airplane mode. The translated food names shown in languages other than English are compiled into the App in the same way: no translation service is contacted, and nothing you search for is sent anywhere. The public dietary-guidance figures the App shows you (see section 7 of the Terms) are likewise built into the App as fixed numbers — the App looks nothing up, and it never sends your profile, your target or your food log to any government, health or research service. The App’s fonts, images and launch screen are also bundled, not downloaded.
Settings contains links to our website, our support page and the USDA’s FoodData Central. Tapping one hands the address to your device’s browser and leaves the App; the site you arrive at will see your IP address in the ordinary way, as any website does. We send nothing with you.
3. Exporting Your Log, and Importing It Back
Settings offers an export. It writes a file and hands it to your device’s normal share sheet, and you choose what happens to it — save it to Files, put it in a cloud drive, email it to yourself, or send it to another device.
WHAT AN EXPORT CONTAINS: your food log only — the days you have logged and the days you have planned, with each item’s name, serving, meal, time and the calorie and macronutrient figures recorded for it. It does NOT contain your profile, your custom foods, your preferences, your reminder settings, or the App’s built-in food catalogue.
There are two formats. JSON is the backup, and the only format the App can read back in; it is free in both directions. CSV opens in a spreadsheet, cannot be imported, and is part of the Pro unlock.
We never receive an exported file and have no access to it. Once you send it somewhere, it is governed by whatever service you sent it to, not by this Policy. Import asks your device’s document picker for a JSON file you choose, checks it strictly, and replaces the App’s log with it; a file that fails the check changes nothing on your device.
4. Purchases
The App offers one optional in-app purchase: a one-time “Pro” unlock. There is no subscription.
Payment is taken by the app store — Apple’s App Store or Google Play — acting as merchant of record under its own terms. We never receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or name.
To deliver the unlock, keep it after a reinstall, and restore it on your other devices, the App uses RevenueCat, Inc., a purchase-management provider in the United States acting as our processor. RevenueCat receives the purchase or receipt data from the app store and a randomly generated, anonymous app-user identifier that lets the App recognise your purchase. That identifier is not your name, not your email, and not an advertising ID, and it is not linked to your profile, your food log, or anything else you enter in the App. We use this only to provide, verify, restore and support your purchase. It is never used for advertising, and we do not sell or share it.
Because RevenueCat and the app stores process this data in the United States, purchasing from the EEA or the UK involves an international transfer; see Section 8.
BE AWARE THAT THIS CHECK HAPPENS EVEN IF YOU NEVER BUY. So that a purchase made earlier — or on another device — is recognised without you having to do anything, the App asks RevenueCat at launch whether the unlock is owned, and asks the store for the current price to display. RevenueCat therefore creates an anonymous record for the App on your device, containing that random identifier and basic technical details its SDK sends (such as the platform, the App version and the IP address the request comes from), whether or not you ever pay for anything. It contains nothing you entered into the App. If you never make a purchase, no payment or receipt data exists.
5. Notifications and Reminders
The App can show you two optional daily reminders: a morning prompt to look over what you planned for today, and an evening prompt to check that the day’s log matches what you actually ate. They are part of the Pro unlock.
BOTH ARE OFF UNTIL YOU TURN THEM ON. The App asks for notification permission only at the moment you switch one on, and if you refuse, the switch stays off rather than appearing to work. You choose the time of day for each, and you can turn either off at any time in Settings or in your device’s own settings.
These reminders are LOCAL. They are scheduled with your device’s own operating system, which shows them at the time you chose. Nothing is scheduled on a server, no push token is created or sent, and the reminder text is fixed wording that contains none of your log, your target or your profile. We do not know whether you have a reminder on, when it fires, or whether you opened it.
6. Children
The App is a general nutrition tool intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and it must not be used by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — in this version we do not collect personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has been using the App, please see Section 12.
7. Software Updates
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, which handle updates under their own privacy policies.
The App does not check for over-the-air updates and contacts no update server. Updates reach you only through the app store.
8. International Transfers
Because your content never leaves your device, there is no international transfer of it. The purchase check described in Section 4 — and, if you buy the Pro unlock, the related purchase data — is processed by RevenueCat, and by the app store, in the United States. Where required — for example for purchasers in the EEA or the UK — those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, together with each provider’s own data protection commitments.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Because your data lives only on your device:
- You can view and edit all of it in the App at any time.
- You can delete individual log entries and custom foods, and Settings → Erase all data deletes your profile, your food log and your custom foods from the device in one step.
- Deleting the App removes its stored data from your device. A device backup made while the App was installed (see above) may still hold a copy until that backup is deleted or replaced.
- You can export your log at any time (Section 3), which is a practical form of data portability.
Depending on where you live you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA), the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA (California) and comparable laws elsewhere, including rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. Because we hold no account and receive none of your content, we usually hold nothing that identifies you and so cannot act on a request in the ordinary way; the on-device controls above are the direct equivalent. If you have made a purchase and want the associated anonymous purchase record dealt with, contact us (Section 12) with the store order identifier and we will do what we can with our provider.
WE DO NOT SELL OR SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION, for cross-context behavioural advertising or otherwise, and we never have.
10. Security and Retention
Your information is protected primarily by the fact that it stays on your device, under your device’s own protections. We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. Purchase records held by the app store and RevenueCat are retained by them under their own policies for as long as needed to support the purchase. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy. When we make material changes we will update the Effective date above and, where appropriate, ask you to read and accept the documents again in the App. In particular, we will update this Policy before any optional account or sync feature ships.
